A Typical Day

An entry-level position, the Analyst I will work with Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) operations and business teams on key strategic projects and day-to-day support activities. Additionally, the Analyst I will assist in evaluating the current environment to improve processes, implement solutions and provide functional support for appropriate Plant and Corporate Cyber Security services.

Job Responsibilities

· Monitor and Respond to Security Alerts: Continuously observe security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection) for potential activity across IT and OT networks. Analyze alerts and escalate incidents based on severity and impact.

· Conduct Vulnerability Assessments: Assist with scanning systems, applications, and industrial control systems (ICS) for vulnerabilities. Record findings and contribute to remediation efforts with IT and OT teams.

· Support Access Control and Identity Management: Support user access provisioning and de-provisioning across enterprise and plant systems. Enforce least privilege policies and monitor for unauthorized access attempts.

· Maintain Security Documentation and Compliance Records: Maintain logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation (e.g., NIST standards). Support audits and help ensure cyber security controls are correctly documented.

· Assist in Security Awareness and Training: Contribute to developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness materials designed for both office and plant personnel. Promote practices around phishing prevention, external USB storage device usage, and remote access.

What You Will Need

· Education and professional certification requirements include:

· Progress in earning an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

· Relevant coursework in networking, operating systems, risk management, and industrial control systems (ICS) is highly preferred.

 

Certifications such as:

· CompTIA Security+

· ISC2 System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)

What Will Put You Ahead

· 0–2 years of hands-on experience in IT or cyber security roles, including internships, co-op programs or academic exercises.

· Exposure to SIEM tools (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, LogRhythm, Splunk), firewalls, and endpoint protection platforms.

· Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration, PowerShell or Python scripting, and network protocols like TCP/IP, DNS, and VPNs.

 

Soft skills and aptitude include:

· Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

· Clear communication skills, especially for translating technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.

· Team collaboration and adaptability in fast-paced environments.

· Curiosity and initiative to learn new tools and threats.
