A Typical Day

The Visitor Center’s Team Lead is responsible for hands-on daily visitor center retail and café/deli operations. Oversee and direct frontline retail and café/deli staff. Ensure exceptional customer service. Welcomes guests and can provide an overview of Hilmar Cheese Company and visitor center activities and services (tours, catering, deli/café specials, and special events).

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing all VC Staff duties
  • Lead and train VC Staff employees
  • Assisting in opening, closing, balancing and sales batching of registers at the start and/or end of each business day.
  • Analyze the day’s needs for the Visitor Center (example: scheduled tours, donation pick/ups, trays) and provide direction to staff to accomplish tasks and services.
  • Provide excellent and friendly customer service to all customers.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe work environment
     

What You Will Need

  • Demonstrates basic numeric understanding to open and close cash register, accurately count money, process a sale, collect money and provide correct change.
  • Time management skills
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Skills in leadership and teambuilding
     

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma and 1 year related experience
  • Prior restaurant or food service experience.
  • Understands first in, first out rotation to ensure freshness of products.
  • Food Handler Certification – within 30 days of start date.

  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.
