Supply Planner

A Typical Day

The Supply Planners for both Cheese and Ingredients are responsible for producing and communicating an optimized production schedule that maximizes the service of Customer Demand and minimizes the cost of Supply Chain resources.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares and publishes a weekly production schedule for finished goods to be fulfilled based on customer demand and supply chain capabilities.
  • Communicates with Customer Solutions and Demand Planning on product availability and key drivers to product surplus, shortages, and the impact on customer demand to provide resolution.
  • Maintains and recommends changes to the supply chain capabilities and assumptions that drive the production schedule based on gathering inputs from key stakeholders which includes but is not limited to product lead times, recipes, safety stock, scheduling rules, and plant capacity.
  • Effectively communicate production schedule with key stakeholders including production, procurement, sales, etc.
  • Resolves any short-term demand and supply imbalances with key internal customers proposing effective decisions in the best interest of the company.
  • Review and manage change requests from key internal stakeholders that impact the production schedule which includes and is not limited to new customer orders, customer volume changes, downtime requests, and product development trials.
  • Coordinates with the milk and direct material procurement teams on raw material supply to ensure their availability to meet the production schedule.
  • Prepare, analyze, and communicate KPI results to schedule attainment identifying both areas of strong performance and work with key stakeholders to provide resolution to performance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provides support to special projects that contributes to delivering and enhancing the capability of the S&OP team.
  • Promotes process discipline and continuous improvement in the supply planning process.

What You Will Need

  • High School diploma and 6 years’ related experience, OR Associate’s degree and 4 years’ related experience, OR Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 3 years’ related experience, OR Master’s degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with use of Pivot Tables and designing spreadsheet models that assist in decision making.
     

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 5 years’ related experience, OR Master’s degree and 1 year related experience.
  • Prior experience in software planning tools such as SAP/PPDS-APO or other ERP demand planning tool sets.
  • Prior experience in commodity agricultural industries such as dairy, energy, or meat industries.
  • Six Sigma, CPF, CPIM or CSCP certification
     

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role.  Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
