A Typical Day

The Visitor Center Staff (Seasonal) is responsible for greeting customers and provide excellent service. Conduct the hands-on daily visitor center retail, café and catering operations. Work as a team to keep the visitor center and all work areas clean and presentable.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent and friendly customer service
  • Provide proper serving etiquette during and event
  • Demonstrate basic numeric understanding to open and close cash register, accurately count money, process a sale, collect money and provide correct change
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized and safe work environment
  • Understand first in, first out rotation to ensure freshness of products
  • Provide guest direction for self-guided tours
  • Keeps current about Hilmar Cheese Company, Hilmar Ingredients and visitor center catering, tours, cafe and retail information in order to answer customer questions
  • Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates. 

What You Will Need

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Food Handler Certification (within 30 days of employment)
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Prior restaurant or food service experience
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with Aloha POS system 
  • Experience with credit card IC Verify program
  • Experience with Fed Ex shipping system

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis.   Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations.
