Process Engineering Manager

A Typical Day

The Process Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing Process Engineering efforts across the company to support strategic objectives through a focus on the optimum and most cost effective methods of manufacturing dairy products.  Strives to enhance profitability, market position, and growth by reducing operating costs and down time.  This position has an end-to-end responsibility and covers all manufacturing plants and processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Process technology subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Define and implement technical standards and Process Engineering best practices across all areas of Hilmar Cheese.
  • Develop strategies and lead programs/initiatives to improve company KPI’s.
  • Maintain a strong industry network and stay in tune with emerging and innovative manufacturing technologies.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or related field plus 7 years related experience OR Master’s degree plus 3 years related experience.
  • Ability to effectively summarize and present technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to communicate and manage change successfully.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Ability to lead and influence teams.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's in Engineering plus 10 years related experience OR Master's degree plus 5 years related experience
  • 3 years’ of experience in Dairy Manufacturing and Process Optimization.
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages (Minitab, JMP, etc.), and knowledge of Process Modeling software (Aspen, Matlab, etc.).
  • Knowledge of unit operations and sanitation strategies used in the dairy industry.

Physical Demands

The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis.   Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations.
