Lab Technician Quality Execution

A Typical Day

The Quality Execution Technician is responsible for producing all data necessary for the maintenance and accuracy of all assigned Quality Assurance instruments on site.  Maintain assigned Quality Control programs for site functions.  Maintain files by entering results into data base and ensure timely and accurate flow of all information to the parties involved with results being produced.  Aid in interpreting results and constant improvement to all methods and programs.  Maintain equipment in order to insure the validation of all processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Read, study, understand and implement published lab procedures and tasks.  As new tasks are introduced, lab staff may be asked to take a written procedure, order their own supplies, and start performing tests with little input.
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and maintain assigned QA instruments.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Assume duties without being asked and solve problems on an independent basis.
  • Will be expected to report results, able to act on the basis of the data.
  • Follow instructions completely and in detail.
  • Computer entry, report generation, and comply with quarterly EMP study for all tests performed.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Maintain professional standards and demonstrate sound judgment during peak periods of activity.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and careful attention to the maintenance of the equipment and accuracy of controls.
  • Demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to comply with deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Perform instrument calibration and maintenance.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal customers.
  • Annual completion of OSHA required safety training.

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English required
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution 
  • 4 months lab or production experience
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts (days/swings/graveyard), and overtime as needed. 
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency on daily repeatability studies by generating results that consistently fall within 2 z-scores
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related fields preferred 
  • Experience in calibration, operation and troubleshooting of lab equipment
  • Previous dairy or processing experience 
  • Intermediate Knowledge of SAP and Lab Instrumentation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.
  • Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
