Director, Asset and Project Development

A Typical Day

The Director of Asset and Project Development will have overall responsibility for Hilmar’s rolling three-year capital investment strategy, including execution of current year’s capital plan.  Additionally, this role will coordinate with our Program Management Office (PMO), Integrated Business Management process (IBP) and senior leadership to identify and eliminate losses on Hilmar’s balanced scorecard through capital investment. Each manufacturing site’s engineering organization will report directly to this role.  

This key role will leverage internal and external resources to create and execute a multigenerational strategy to remove end of life equipment or increase capability of current equipment, ensuring Hilmar’s competitive advantage through asset utilization.   

This role requires considerable amounts of independent judgement and discretion directing programs, people and processes to ensure projects and programs delivery in a quality, timely, efficient and cost effective manner.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop annual capital investment plan consistent with Hilmar’s overall strategic plan to be approved by Board of directors.  
  • Provide leadership and direction for all site engineering teams, while ensuring Hilmar’s Perfect Project tools are leveraged.
  • Oversight and leadership through change management and continuous improvement programs.
  • Enable Hilmar’s Asset Reliability program
  • Partner and coordinate strategic priorities with Technical Services, R&D and Operations.
  • Partner with internal experts to optimize CMMS systems.
  • Enable a loss prevention mentality among engineer teams and also vendors through leveraging updated technology.
  • Conduct and lead team through risk assessments for optimum outcomes.  
  • Lead development of site’s loss elimination and asset management systems.  
  • Develop and mentor professional growth of staff and provide leadership to cross-functional teams.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 10 years’ related experience or Master’s degree and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent experiences.
  • Experience utilizing principles and practices of engineering and administration as applied to the design and construction of production facilities as well as methods, materials, and techniques employed in engineering and construction.
  • Experience with budget development, procedures and techniques.
  • Proven leadership and teambuilding skills.
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for quality, yield and cost.

  • Master’s degree and 7 years’ related experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
