Demand Planner

A Typical Day

The Demand Planners are responsible for assisting the Cheese or Ingredients Sales and Marketing teams in forecasting and planning customer demand and facilitating decisions around product availability in optimizing supply and demand.

Job Responsibilities

  • Publishes a consensus demand plans for finished goods based on statistical history and the input of sales, marketing, customers, and new product development to meet the demand review step of the IBP process.
  • Maintain master data for the demand planning tools which includes and is not limited to maintaining contract quantities, customer/product volume forecast methodologies and pricing.
  • Communicate, identify, negotiate, and bring resolution to any short term demand and supply imbalances with key internal customers proposing effective decisions in the best interest of the company.
  • Review and manage change requests from key internal customers that impact the demand and supply of the product lines which includes and is not limited to customer volume changes, downtime requests, and product development trials.
  • Evaluate current planning assumptions relative to the company demand plan and recommend changes as required.
  • Analyze and communicate KPI results to provide visibility on demand planning performance (Forecast Accuracy, Price Achievement, Stream Return) identifying both areas of strong performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide contextual information and analysis for collaborating with customers to the Sales and Marketing teams. 
  • Monitor forecast consumption and manage Available-to-Promise inventories for customer open orders.
  • Promotes process discipline and continuous improvement in the demand planning process.
     

What You Will Need

  • High School Diploma and 6 years’ experience in demand planning, production planning, sales or product management, OR Associate’s degree and 4 years’ experience in demand planning, production planning, sales or product management, OR Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 3 years’ experience in demand planning, production planning, sales or product management OR Master’s degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with use of Pivot Tables and designing spreadsheet models that assist in decision making.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 5 years’ experience in demand planning, production planning, sales or product management OR Master’s degree and 1 year experience in demand planning, production planning, sales or product management.
  • Prior experience in software planning tools such as SAP/PPDS-APO or other ERP demand planning tools sets preferred.
  • Experience in dairy, energy, or meat industries
  • Six Sigma, CPF, CPIM or CSCP certifications.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role.  Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
