Customer Service Representative

A Typical Day

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for processing orders for domestic, export, CME and USDA customers. Additional responsibilities include logistic load planning and negotiating logistics rates, coordinating product release times, and ensuring that product is delivered to the customer’s specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive, enter, confirm s and manages sales orders and portals from internal and external customers in a knowledgeable and professional manner 
  • Manage customer questions/concerns in a timely manner
  • Manage logistic requests, appointments and negotiate rates
  • Manage and transfer inventories with internal and external warehouses and offer product to customers when need arises
  • Work with Corporate Quality team to obtain anticipated release dates inventory will be available
  • Take action and make decisions on situations as they arise between customers, logistics and Hilmar Cheese, ensuring orders are shipped, received, and invoiced in a timely manner
  • Process customer orders in an accurate and thorough manner 
  • Work closely with Corporate Finance, Information Systems, Corporate Quality Assurance, Export Documentation, Customer Care, Production Planning, Sales and Warehousing internal and external teams, including customers and freight carriers
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions while managing and maintaining confidential information in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to work well with internal and external customers and co-workers in a team environment
  • Attend weekly required meetings
  • Annual completion of OSHA required safety training.

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • 3 years customer service experience  
  • Ability to occasionally work weekends
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Outlook 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 1 years logistics experience
  • Knowledge of Hilmar Cheese Company policies and procedures

  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
