A Typical Day

The PSM/CalARP Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the process safety function including compliance initiatives, administrative duties, training development, risk assessment, reporting and the development, delivery, and maintenance of process safety and RMP/CalARP and DHA programs for all sites. Manages Ammonia/Emergency Response programs and inspections to ensure a safe work place in accordance with all Federal, Safety (Cal/OSHA) local regulations and Hilmar Cheese Company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

Plans, develops, conducts, and evaluates process safety programs at all three HCC sites covered by OSHA- PSM, CalARP, DHA, EPA- RMP programs ensuring that MOC (Management of Change) is appropriately applied.
Develops and oversees regularly scheduled audits of PSM and RMP/ CalARP elements for continuing compliance with these regulations; makes recommendations to Safety Manager for the mitigation and remedy of non-compliance issues. Designs standard work practices to maintain compliance for each element of the regulation; engages in process hazard analysis.
Leads the MOC (Management of Change) process for new or modifications to covered processes.
Schedules and Manages Mechanical Integrity Inspections and makes corrective action recommendations on new and existing covered processes.
Assist the site leadership with implementing and sustaining the site's PSM plan and procedures. Coordinate PSM activities by developing, implementing training activities to achieve and maintain compliance with PSM plan.
Facilitate or participate in DHA, PHA's, PSM Audits, PHA Revalidation's, and Pre-Safety Reviews, ensuring appropriate follow up on issues that arise out of audits and inspections.
Perform Release Investigations and make corrective action recommendations.
Schedule Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual employee participation training for regulatory requirements.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 7 years’ related experience, OR Master’s degree plus 3 years’ related experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Three years’ progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Emergency Response and Incident Command.
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for safety compliance.
  • Knowledge of the function, goals, and objective of RMP CAL/OSHA Program, basic safety.
  • Combustible Dust Mitigation knowledge, and able to manage the DHA program.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 10 years’ related experience OR Master’s degree plus 5 years’ related experience.
  • Maintain current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Maintain current certification of Emergency Response Fit/SCBA
  • Experience working on Ammonia Systems.
  • Combustible Dust Mitigation and Program Management experience.
  • Experience working in a PSM/CalARP facility.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • Ammonia Piping: non-destructive testing knowledge.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

4C:Salary Range: USD (103145.0 - 154718.0) ANN

The final compensation offered within this range will depend on factors including the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
