Corporate Credit Manager

A Typical Day

The Corporate Credit Manager leads the credit function and designs and implements processes to manage credit risk and minimize past-due amounts.  The Corporate Credit Manager develops policies regarding the analysis of customers, extension of credit limits, and collections, up to and including legal action and takes the lead in regular meetings with the Corporate Credit Committee where these policies are discussed and approved.  The position collaborates with current and future customers and sales staff regarding level of credit and terms of sale.  The Corporate Credit Manager also oversees the negotiations and course of action taken for overdue accounts.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the credit granting and update process which includes analysis and verification of financial status of prospective or current customers applying for credit or changes in credit, preparing reports, summarizing findings, and recommendation for approval or rejection of applications.
  • Manage the process for recommending and establishing credit limits and payment terms on accounts.
  • Perform annual reviews of existing accounts and recommend changes as necessary
  • Manage and review letters of credit and documentary sales and approve correspondent banks.
  • Review aging to monitor collections and outstanding balances vs. credit limits to highlight risks and evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a process for identifying and monitoring changes in risk profiles as economic and or country risk changes.
  • Assumes responsibility to collect delinquent accounts and recommends legal action when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the sales department and customers.
  • Help maintain and refine our credit scoring model.
  • Manage customer credit files.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of commercial credit experience in a Business to Business context; including experience with international credit exposure. 
  • Proven track record of performing rigorous financial analysis on companies to establish appropriate credit limits.
  • Proven ability to monitor and manage counterparty risk exposure in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively internally and externally across departments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Self-motivated, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to a variety of audiences.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Advanced Degree
  • 10 years of commercial credit experience in a Business to Business context; including experience with international credit exposure.
  • Professional Certifications:
    • Certified Credit Professional (CCE)
    • Certified International Credit Professional (CICP)
    • International Certified Credit Executive (ICCE)
