Plant Trainer (Milk)

A Typical Day

The Plant Trainer provides effective training for hourly employees within their respective department, ensuring all safety and quality objectives are met.   

Job Responsibilities

  • Effectively train and develop new and existing employees, using the appropriate training approach, methods and materials. 
  • Train and develop employees within the ideal training window. 
  • Follow the outlined training curriculum, as well as continually participate in improving the training curriculum. 
  • Continually evaluate and assess new and existing employees in order to gauge their level of knowledge and the application of that knowledge, providing additional training to close the performance gaps where applicable.
  • Recognize leading/lagging indicators and react proactively to address potential problems, including people and processes. 
  • Effectively communicate and partner with respective department(s) in an effort to support training needs.
  • Oversee On the Job trainers, developing their ability to effectively train employees, as well as verifying they are conducting effective training as outlined  
  • Document and track all assigned content.  
  • Assist with writing new or existing training material, including SOP’s and skill assessments. 
  • Assist in employee-training sessions on new or revised processes and/or procedures in an effort to understand and support employee training needs.
  • Attend all required training sessions and apply learned knowledge.  

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to work 8-hour variable shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Experience as a trainer or an On the Job Trainer
  • Skilled in any Operator level 1, 2 and 3 roles within the plant
  • Knowledge of the respective department(s) equipment, products and processes
     

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • SAP experience 
  • Any licenses/certifications required to work in the plant
  • Active/past member of department safety team 
  • Completion of any internal or external courses respective of the plant
  • Has completed/in the process of completing HCC Level 1 Leadership training
  • Completion of HCC internal technical training programs 
  • New equipment implementation through vendor facilitation and training

  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.
  • Exposure to solvents or chemicals.
  • Exposure to slippery walking surfaces: water.
  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
