A Typical Day

The Site FSQA Manager is responsible for all aspects of food quality and food safety. The role provides guidance and is the champion for GMP’s, HACCP, HARPC, SQF, regulatory and customer requirements, sanitation, food safety and quality program administration.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing and ensuring all aspects of the Corporate Food Safety & Quality Management Systems, at the Site level, are effectively implemented.
  • Drive, lead, and troubleshoot food safety, sanitation, and quality investigations to ensure that all critical and major issues are thoroughly escalated and investigated with appropriate corrective actions, including but not limited to, out of specification in-process and finished product test results.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement & learning by teaching, coaching & mentoring others.
  • Work closely with the Production, Facilities and Engineering, Quality & Technical Teams to continuously improve overall product quality and production environment.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the environmental monitoring program and pre-operational inspection program and associated activities. Make necessary modifications to promote continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring Site Hygiene & GMP policies are conveyed, enforced & audited for compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective implementation and execution of sanitation programs including, but not limited to: CIP validation and verification activities, environmental cleaning programs, and pre-operational swabbing/inspections.
  • Leverage 3rd party chemical service provider resources to support quality and sanitation objectives and manage relationship with Pest Control Service Provider and reinforce expectations.
  • Identify, design, and implement process and system improvements.
  • Responsible for planning, directing, & adherence to the Site Laboratory & Food Safety budget plan and FSQA approval for Capital Expenditure projects.
  • Maintain GLPs, enforce laboratory safety.
  • Responsible for site regulatory inspections and visits.
  • Responsible for laboratory oversight. Drive reliability, consistency and accuracy in testing and results reporting.
  • Responsible for the coordination of selected GFSI certification Programs & compliance as well as for oversight of site Kosher & Halal programs, and designated SQF substitute practitioner in replacement of primary SQF Practitioner.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in related field plus 7 years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 3 years related experience.
  • PCQI and GFSI certification or the ability to obtain.
  • HACCP Plan development, Auditing, Regulatory requirements experience
  • Continuous development of food safety & food regulation knowledge.
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for quality, yield & cost

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 10 years of related experience or master’s degree and 5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations & inventory management.
  • Advanced understanding of Food Safety Related State and Federal Regulations, including Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO)

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role has periods of time when the work environment is sedentary and conducted in an office environment balanced with frequent occasions that require prolonged walking or standing, lifting/ carrying/handling moderate weight objects on a regular basis.   Is required to wear PPE and have a regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse environments in both temperature controlled and uncontrolled locations.
