Manager - Human Resources

A Typical Day

The HR Manager collaborates with department heads and managers to establish, lead, and coordinate efforts which positively impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of talent as well as maintain the company’s desired culture and work environment. The HR Manager oversees recruitment and retention, on/ off boarding, employee relations, performance management and other HR work flow. Is responsible for driving HR capability through the development and implementation of sound HR programs and processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide HR leadership to client group through establishing strong and effective working relationships with internal and external customers to promote and support positive employee relations, company culture and employee engagement efforts
  • Develop and lead execution of HR initiatives and programs that support company, business and department strategic objectives.  Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department/organization from recruitment through off-boarding
  • Closely partners with internal teams such as Safety and Training to assure consistency and knowledge of our processes.  May create and develop content and deliver training
  • Partner with business leaders on workforce planning, succession planning, performance management, and talent pipeline programs for internal customers
  • Deliver comprehensive employee relations support utilizing consulting, coaching, counseling, and influencing skills, ensuring a balance in representing all parties’ interests 
  • Assist employees and managers by handling HR related questions, interpreting and explaining HR policies, and helping resolve employee relations concerns
  • Review and analyze business unit data to identify trends and develop solutions, programs and policies that improve performance, retention, and employee engagement
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • May represents business in external hearings and events.  Participates in external recruiting efforts

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field plus 5 years related experience OR Master’s degree in related field plus 1 year related experience
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence and presence to effectively handle interpersonal relationships and sensitive HR issues
  • Exceptional consulting, coaching and feedback skills 
  • Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results
  • Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7 years related leadership experience in HR OR Master's degree plus 2 years related experience
  • Manufacturing background a plus 
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and supervisors to use company best practices for maximum effectiveness
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The work is primarily performed in an office environment and the physical demands are characteristic of a mostly sedentary role.  Specific details of the essential functions of the position is available in the Job Safety Analysis, made available on request.
