Maintenance Equipment Trainer

A Typical Day

A Maintenance Equipment Trainer works with the Maintenance Training and Development Administrator to define and assess the type of training needed. Responsible for effectively training and developing employees using the appropriate training approach, methods and materials.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work (train and develop employees) during the ideal training window.
  • Must work a flexible schedule to meet training requirements.
  • Follow the outlined training curriculum as well as continually participate in improving of the training curriculum where ideal results are achieved.
  • Continually evaluate and assess new and existing employees in order to gauge their level of knowledge and the application of that knowledge. Utilize training to close the performance gaps where applicable.
  • Recognizes trends/indicators and reacts proactively to address potential problems. This would include people and processes.
  • Partner with and support respective department(s) through effective communication.
  • Participate in 30/60/85 day reviews to identify gaps in knowledge performance.
  • The trainer will accept responsibility for employees in training.
  • Promotes the Company Culture on a daily basis as well as reiterating and influencing expectations and behaviors of employees in training and employees who have completed training.
  • Oversee the On the Job trainers, developing their ability to effectively train employees as well as verifying they are conducting effective training as outlined.
  • Document and track assigned content.
  • Facilitate training sessions.
  • Assist with writing new or existing training material for new and current equipment, processes, curriculum, etc.
  • Train maintenance technicians on proper maintenance techniques and equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Assist in developing skills testing to determine each individual’s current level of expertise.
  • Attend classes, seminars and other training programs in order to stay current with the latest maintenance techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned by Training Department and Maintenance Management.
  • Understanding of how maintenance effects operations
  • Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments
  • Complete annual OSHA required safety training.
  • Complete annual Company safety training program(s).
  • Complete annual food Safety overview training.
  • Complete level 1 leadership training
  • Promote Company Culture
  • Achieve common business goals through cooperative alignment with all departments

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Extensive knowledge of training processes and programs

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Skilled in working with different personality styles and training techniques
  • 2 years of experience in the maintenance field
  • Train-the-Trainer Certification
  • New equipment implantation through vendor facilitation and training
  • Knowledge of standard dairy manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Stand and walk almost the entire workday.
  • Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the cheese plant.
  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.
