Cheese Grading Technician

A Typical Day
Responsible for the sensory evaluation of cheese products, and to make recommendations for final disposition of products.
Job Responsibilities
- Pulling samples for cheese lab, micro lab and independent labs as requested.
- Reporting all cheese sensory results that include input in SAP along with Cheese Grading Summary and all re-grades, 12 day grades, under-grade exceptions and others as assigned.
- Monitor grades and analytical data to keep grading team on track.
- Track and report on cheese as needed through PIN system.
- Participate in all R&D that incorporates cheese functionality tracking as assigned.
- Provides recommendations to improve quality of cheese products.
What You Will Need
- High School Diploma and 1 year Operations experience
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs
- Knowledge of dairy plant sanitation practices.
- Software proficient in Excel, Word, Share Point, Microsoft Outlook and Ross.
- Must be able to work 8-hour rotating shifts including, weekends and holidays
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor’s Degree
- SAP experience
- Knowledge of cheese production and impact on finished product performance
- Experience Grading Cheese and understanding of cheese sensory evaluation terminology used at Hilmar.
- Experience with Historian ability to use trends and process knowledge to improve process performance and conduct trials.
- Knowledge of plant technical and QA activities.
- Active/past member of department safety team
- Completion of a cheese grading course
