Warehouse Operator

A Typical Day

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for safe and efficient operational practices in at least two processing areas of the plant (dryer or warehouse operations) while meeting quality expectations. The Warehouse Operator is responsible for operating all plant equipment related to the warehouse, processing finished product, keep detailed scaling/trucker information sorted and loading/unloading all trucks efficiently to reduce downtime, meet production goals, and meet customer expectations and deadlines. 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate, monitor, and control production processes in area of responsibility; including grade 1 & 2 responsibilities.  
  • Ability to perform periodic QC Checks- ability to sample product by physically taking samples, test samples using appropriate lab test equipment, and interpret sample results.
  • Physically inspect bags going through the robot onto pallets, stacking, wrapping, labeling, date, ETAG, seals and/or tears, extraneous material, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete paperwork (including MSS)
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of process equipment and instrumentation & perform operator based preventative maintenance duties.
  • Must be able to adhere, practice and help develop procedures, policies and practices.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, scissor lift, etc. & a variety of common hand tools.
  • Assist in assuring efficient operation of equipment, quality of product, and safety of all personnel.
  • Communicate (professionally & appropriately), interact, and work effectively with all team members (including other departments) to help achieve production and company goals. 
  • Other important abilities and skills include analytical problem solving, commitment to task, coping, decisiveness, interaction, spoken and written communications, tolerance of ambiguity, and versatility.
  • Ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics (decision making & problem solving).
  • Must be knowledgeable of all SOP’s and capable of following them.
  • Participate in departmental safety team while promoting safe work habits, leading by example, holding yourself and other accountable for safe and unsafe acts.
  • Must help train, develop, motivate and build positive relationships with all peers.
  • Complete annual OSHA required safety training, annual hearing test, First Aid & CPR training, annual Training Skills Assessment, annual GMP training, LO/TO Training/Fall Protection Training, Confined Space Training, annual Arc Flash training & obtain industrial lift certifications. 
     

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to work 12 hour variable shift, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
  • Communication, time management, organizational, and basic math skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook 
  • Ability to lift 60lbs

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution 
  • Skilled in Permeate Operator, Packaging or Dryer Operator (level 1 -2)
  • Prior feed mill/grain experience 
  • Prior warehouse experience 
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical processes
  • Active/Past member of Departmental Safety Team
  • SAP and Wonder Ware experience
  • 1 plus years of manufacturing experience

  • Stand and walk almost the entire workday.
  • Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the permeate plant.
  • Required to work at heights climbing ladders and/or stairs and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.

  • Exposure to loud noises or vibrations

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
