Production Lead (Permeate Plant)

A Typical Day

The Production Lead will assist plant supervision by focusing on continuous improvement activities in areas of safety, food safety, production, crew communication, quality, yield, efficiencies and training (salaried and hourly).  Filling in as a relief operator when necessary.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a relief operator, working non-standard scheduled shifts.
  • Responsible for the department during periods of supervisor down-time, including meeting attendance, training, special projects, etc.
  • Ensure operator training competencies are met.  Assist in the development of technical competencies and skill advancement of hourly staff, coach and train where needed. 
  • Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which may be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.  
  • Understand all department SOP’s and follow up on any process changes.
  • Help maintain process flow to ensure safety, quality, yield and efficiencies meet HCC standards
  • Provide guidance to ensure specification compliance. 
  • Recommend changes or improvements in plant systems.
  • Maintain production areas and equipment to ensure USDA and FDA inspection ready at all times              
  • Ensure product ingredients are received in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and enforce good housekeeping and GMP’s and company Hygiene Zoning Program.
  • Maintain good daily communication with manager, coordinator, supervisors, personnel and support departments.
  • Work closely with Sanitation Coordinator to help support proper operation of CIP systems.
  • High engagement in proactive troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and verify critical checks are completed timely and results communicated and addressed appropriately.
  • Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates. Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.  
  • Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.  Participate in departmental safety teams. Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.  
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What You Will Need

  • Must be able to work alternate shifts, including weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs. 
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Skilled in SAP
  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.     
  • Member of HCC Departmental Safety Team
  • Experience as an on the job trainer (OJT)
  • Certifications needed to perform operator roles in designated department

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
