Production Coordinator (Cheese)

A Typical Day

The Production Coordinator support relative operational unit objectives, manage to company personnel/food safety, quality, production, and leadership objectives for the Cheese Plants. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Personnel – conducts candidate interviews and facilitates integration of new hires into existing production staff, assures feedback and accountability is administered according to Company Culture and expectations. Production manager proxy.
  • Employee Relations – responsible for adhering to Hilmar Cheese employee handbook policy and procedures, including progressive discipline, timekeeping, harassment prevention and reporting, substance abuse, and all relevant employee conduct policies.
  • Safety– manages to and reports adherence to monthly safety KPI objectives.
  • Quality– controls and communicates plant floor level food safety and quality requirements.
  • Regulatory– maintains applicable plant floor requirements regarding PMO, USDA, CDFA (CA only), FDA and TXDHS (TX only) written codes.
  • Process Technical– assures technical SOP training and adherence of plant staff.
  • Organizational Skills –organize and prioritize work tasks, production levels, schedule attainment and equipment up time requirements on a daily basis.
  • HACCP/GMP – monitors and controls documentation compliance to HACCP/OPRP/PRP requirements.
  • SQF Food Safety and Quality Code 
  • Internal Requirements – assures accurate and timely closure on all internal and external safety/GMP/customer/regulatory audit non conformances.
  • System Requirements – SAP/expenditure signing authority up to $2,500 USD.
  • Reporting Results – provides daily reporting related to safety, quality, and schedule attainment results for respective operations unit.
  • Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution and 4 years of manufacturing or operations experience 
  • 3+ years of advancement through progressive leadership positions

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Applicable; CDFA Licensed Pasteurizer Operator, TDHS Licensed State Sealer Certified
  • Tactical knowledge of production operations management for quality, yield and cost
  • Knowledge of plant technical activities through technical study and training
  • New equipment implementation through vendor facilitation and training
  • Advanced industry related courses and vendor trade shows
  • Completion of HCC internal technical training programs

  • Required to work at heights and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending.

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
