A Typical Day

The Permeate Operator is responsible for learning the safe and efficient operational practices in the plant dryer area while meeting quality expectations. The Permeate Operator is responsible for operating all plant equipment related to dryers, processing good quality finished product, scaling and loading all bulk/tank trucks efficiently to reduce downtime, meet production goals, and meet customer expectations.  
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and control production processes in area of responsibility.
  • Complete periodic QC checks- ability to sample product by physically taking samples, test samples using appropriate lab test equipment, and interpret sample results.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete paperwork.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Perform operator based preventative maintenance duties.
  • Procedures, policies and practices adherence and development.
  • Ability to use a variety of common hand tools.
  • Ability to accurately explain process flow for one processing area.
  • Assist in assuring efficient operation of equipment, quality of product, and safety of all personnel.
  • Ability to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; use reason, even when dealing with emotional topics (decision making & problem solving).
  • Ability to relate and conform to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform master sanitation program duties as assigned.
  • Promoting safe work habits, leading by example, holding yourself and other accountable for unsafe acts.
  • Participate in safety programs.
  • Complete the following annual training: OSHA required safety, hearing test, GMP and Training Skills Assessment. 

What You Will Need

  • English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to work 12 hour variable shifts, including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
  • Basic computer skills 
  • Ability to lift 60lbs
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
     

What Will Put You Ahead

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution. 
  • 1 year of manufacturing experience 
  • Prior feed mill/grain experience

  • Required to work at heights climbing ladders and/or stairs and in fairly small areas.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, lifting, repetitive bending.

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, gases, or other irritating substances.
  • Exposure to solvents or chemicals.

  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity depending on time of year.
  • Exposure to loud noises and vibrations

Working surface is primarily concrete. Where standing is required, there are rubber mats which are one-half inch thick.
