Maintenance Mechanic

A Typical Day
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for working with the operations teams for safe, quick and accurate corrective maintenance of plant equipment to ensure the best available equipment uptime, completing scheduled preventive maintenance tasks as assigned in a timely manner, and completing all necessary documentation for tracking time and equipment maintenance history.
Job Responsibilities
- Use basic power tools, welding tools, forklift, articulating booms, etc to complete assigned projects
- Read blue prints and do layout work/sketches
- Use plasma cutter for various projects
- Timely analysis and repair of all breakdowns in plants using basic troubleshooting skills
- Troubleshoot and wire a 3-phase motor
- Troubleshoot and repair 110va and 24v control wiring
- Rebuild centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed according to HCC safety policies
- Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with production operators to maintain and repair plant equipment
- Properly prioritize issues and take personal accountability to make sure all repairs fit the core valve of “Excellence”
- Active participation and ownership in your training and development program and associated activities, classes and events, which will be held before, during, after shifts and during scheduled days off.
- Help coach and train teammates and participate in on the job, buddy training.
- Place high priority on food safety and sanitation by understanding and executing HCC’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Hold self and others accountable to HCC’s food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
- Participate in food safety and sanitation root cause analysis and improvement activities when required.
- Prioritize safety above all other job duties by having a safety first approach at all times.
- Report any safety issues, observations, opportunities to your teams and follow up.
- Participate in departmental safety teams.

What You Will Need
- English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English
- 2 years of Industrial Manufacturing experience or 1 year of Industrial, Automotive, Diesel, or Agricultural Maintenance experience.
- Competent knowledge of basic hand tools
- Ability to verbalize troubleshooting methods
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays and rotating shifts (day/swing/graveyard)
- Ability to lift up to 60lbs
What Will Put You Ahead
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Completion of certificate or training program in Industrial Maintenance, Automotive or Diesel Equipment repair, or related coursework
- 1 year SAP experience
- 2 years of dairy manufacturing experience and 1 year of Operator based maintenance experience.
- 4 years of Industrial Manufacturing experience and/or 2 years of Industrial, Automotive, Diesel, or Agricultural Maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of gas, TIG, MIG and arc welding - moved from “need” section since most of the welding is done by 3rd party vendors
